IF YOU WANT TO KNOW YOU NEED TO GO ASK HER TEACHER! THAT WAY YOU KNOW WHAT LEVEL GROUP AND EVERY THING YOUR CHILD IS ON
To help kids learn to share, cooperate and communicate with each other. Also to give them confidence to start reading. If one kid does not know how to say one word the other kid in the group will help him/her say it. It also gives the leadership skills and helps over come shyest.
Teachers sometime group students based on their needs and abilities. The purpose of this is to work with students on similar ability levels.
Groups can help alleviate students’ frustrations and allow them to work at their own paces.
Perhaps these reading groups are meant to help the kids learn to read easier…I think…
Like most “new” ideas in education reading groups are predicated on the fact that your kids’ teacher hasn’t a clue. It will keep the class easier to control. And that’s all that public education is doing any more. Think of ritalin–The teachers’ little helper. If you are serious about your child’s future, homeschool or private, but for god’s sake get him/her out of public school before they do any more harm.
