My 6 Year Old Is Doing 2nd Grade Work In 1st Grade But They Don’t Advance Students Anymore…what Should I Do?

He is literally having the 2nd grade teacher bring classwork to his 1st grade class and he does it on his own while the rest of the class learns things he learned like 2 years ago. His teacher has even said, ” I don’t know what to do with him other then let him lead the class, and the school no longer advances students to the next grade.” ( and now he is having behavior problems in class and with other students, ISS & suspension- next will be expulsion.) What should I do?

I’m becoming a teacher and I will be signing up for the teaching program this October. I want to know what teachers are teaching the students who are in Kidergarten, 1st, 2nd grade? How do teachers formulate a lesson plan? Who gives them the information on what should be taught? If you could help me out with these questions it would be great!!! Thanks!!

I know they learn addition and substractions, do you as teachers have to teach them there X’s tables, or does that start in 2nd grade? I will be a student in the spring, and I am majoring in elementary education. I would love to teach 1st grade. I was just wondering when they start there X’s tables.
